Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 (February 27, 2010) Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming community situated in the West Island, which is part of Montreal's island. People unfamiliar with the term tend to think it's an island that's in the west of Montreal however, the West Island is home to all things from the city of Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to have been born on the West Island. But this is not true. Brugel was raised on Courtice just outside Oshawa in Ontario. At the beginning of her life she wanted to be a performer but an unexpected increase in her height made it difficult. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted In heels I'm 6 feet 1 inch. When I outgrew my male partners I stopped. Some former dancers switch to acting, and in Brugel's case it was a suggestion from an instructor in drama at high school who pushed her in the right direction. Her teacher invited her to try out for roles in her school's production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the lead role for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she completed her studies in Theatre and graduated with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years, Brugel's roles in the world of television and on the screen have been numerous. Her role as Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian cast member for the season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
